POSITION:                Staff Accountant

DUTIES:                     Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individual, corporation, fiduciary, partnership and estate clients using specialty tax software programs. Advise clients regarding allowable uses of funds and reporting requirements for relief fund assistance allocated to U.S. Tribal governments by Section 5001 of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act”).  Advise Tribal governments regarding fund accounting matters, tribal trust fund disbursements, and other tax issues specific to U.S. Indian Tribes. Calculate and prepare State Franchise Tax Reports. Process payroll transactions and prepare and file periodic payroll tax reports including Forms 941, 940, W-2, W-3 to the State Workforce Commission. Advise clients on how to minimize tax liability, inform clients of tax changes that affect their businesses, and ensure compliance with federal and state tax requirements. Research various federal and state tax issues per clients' requests. Advise clients in areas such as compensation, employee benefits, the design of accounting or data processing systems, and long-range tax or estate plans. Determine and maintain records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability and other financial activities for clients using knowledge of QuickBooks and accounting software programs. Prepare monthly financial reports of accounts receivables, accounts payables and accounts reconciliation. Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper general ledger accounts. Develop, implement and modify recordkeeping and accounting systems. Prepare balance sheets, income statements, and other periodic reports to summarize the current and projected financial position of clients. Assist with accounting and bookkeeping process from journal entries to financial statements. Assist with audit paperwork and facilitate the federal and state audit processes. Set up companies and apply business and all other required government licenses. Respond to Internal Revenue Service, state, and local government notices and document requests.

MINIMUM

REQUIREMENTS:    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or closely related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or closely related.
